Yesterday morning, I was talking to my classmate R, and I asked her if she's still with the guy I saw her with freshman year in McDo Araneta. She said yes. I asked her in jest when they plan to get married. She said, "two years ago".
She told me they got secretly married because they felt it was the right time. She knew he was the one. The guy's family knows, but R's doesn't - she's the only girl, eldest, and she's still in med school.
Pero ang galing. To be able to hide something like that for two years now, wow.
She plans to tell her parents after graduation next year. That's if she starts junior internship this April. She was one of the many casualties of the Infectious Diseases module last semester, and they're begging the administration to give them another removal exam. If not, then she will have to wait for two years before telling her parents that well, she's already married.
Amazing how things happen so fast to some people. Pero ako, kuntento na ako na mabagal takbo ng buhay ko.

Learned some surgical skills yesterday afternoon. Took a looooong time before I figured out how to do the one-hand tie. The figure-of-eight bandaging we already knew beforehand because we went through Red Cross training.
And foley catheter insertion may sound scary, pero ganun lang pala yun.

Lately, puro kami kain at tulog lahat. And we ironically always feel so tired even if we no longer have PD and tutorials.
Pakasaya na. In the words of my JI friend, "sige lang, sa April, tapos na maliligayang araw mo."

Dr. E gave us higher grades than the two groups before us. Either we're good, or natuwa siya kahit binoboldjak niya kami, hindi kami pikon.

Clodagh, that was very flattering.

This March I need:
* at least eight pairs of JI uniform
* two scrubsuit
* 2 pairs of white shoes
* books
* cheat notes for the wards
* tuition fee
Rats. The financial burden I'm giving my dad just so I can have those two letters after my name.

Yesterday afternoon's class lunch/party was sentimental. Most, even my groupmate A, were teary-eyed during the prayer led by Vanessa. Ako naman, I misheard "thanks for all the friendship, for the relationships". I thought she said "thanks for all the friendship ovulation-ship" kaya natawa ako. Me and my hearing problem.
Sa April, clerkship na. Everyone is already talking about where to have uniforms done, where to get good white shoes, etc etc. Ang lapit na talaga.
No, don't expect me to be waifish at the end of the year. My clerk friends warned me that usually the thin ones get thinner and the big ones get bigger during the clerkship. Parang you don't sleep na nga, why deprive yourself pa of food?
But yeah, before that, OSCE pa next week. Wish me luck.

Learned how to do injection (intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and venipuncture yesterday.

I need help. I want to change my template but I don't know how to do it without losing the past comments.

I know. I had no reason to be mataray last night. I had wonderful news in school, OSCE is a week away, and I'm pretty much blessed in my personal life.
Ewan ko ba. Bad mood lang siguro talaga.

Yesterday's NGT (Naso-gastric tube) insertion activity was fun. Dr. S, the gastro-enterologist assigned to our group was cool - he kept cracking jokes and made the simple procedure seem, well, simpler. My groupmate E volunteered to be the patient. He was such a sport that he didn't mind even if people were laughing all throughout. One of my classmates even took a picture of him while the NGT was being inserted. He just laughed when there was blood in the tube upon removal - a sign that his pharynx was somehow traumatized.
After the class I was talking to A, Y, and J outside the college auditorium when the doctor approached us and asked us for the number of the Welch-Allyn/Littman girl. He told us that's how pathetic doctors are, they don't have money to buy new stethoscope so he's just going to have his repaired. Consultant na yan ha. Ironic, once we get the MD after our names, that's when we'll be forced to live a life of poverty and deprivation. In other words, pag doctor na ko, bawal na maging kikay. Good thing I'm not that kikay. I'm so simple.
Last night I met up with my highschool friends Aura and Erwin. We had dinner, and spent the whole night laughing. Senti, but I think the song Through the Years is very appropriate for us. We've been through a lot, and even if Grace told me that Erwin was for a time kinda jealous of Rhome and Roy, I know that deep inside he knew they have different roles in my life. Siya, sobrang brother na turing ko.
I also got to drive here in Manila. I mean, I have no problem driving in Nueva Ecija, even in Pampanga, but here it's a different story. Except for the fact that I don't have my own car (unlike my younger brother, The Emperor, but let's not get into that), the last time I drove here was when I was in driving school a year ago. I think I did okay, though. Well, my dad's driver told me so, at least.
ER Med finals result isn't out yet. This is what I fear the most actually - kakaiba kasi masyado yung exam. And D, the class president, announced that the OSCE (PD finals) will be next week already. I really need to brush up on my PE skills and read on diagnostic and treatment plans.
Oh, and my new haircut makes my face look even bigger.

My Longest Relationship
Groupmate E / NGT kid: Chel, ilang linggo na nga kayo ng boyfriend mo?
Me: Two, baket?
E: Uy, record-breaker. Congratulations, mas matagal na sa five days. (to groupmate B) P**a, pare, ang galing, yardstick, five days.
B: Syempre, kakaiba yang babae na yan, eh.

Happy Times
Had a fun weekend. Most of it was spent with The Boyfriend.
Saturday afternoon, I watched him jam with his friends. Now I know he's not making it up - my boyfriend can really play the drums. And how :) Okay, okay, maybe I'm biased, but can you blame me? I mean he may already have his very own fangirl (Sir ____, don't forget to smile), but like in that Edwin McCain's song, I'll be the greatest fan of his life.
Yuck, ang baduy ko. Two weeks ago, I never would have imagined blogging that. Heck, two weeks ago, I never would have thought something as cheesy as that.
What can I say, love makes you crazy.
After that we caught the last full show of Hero in Rockwell. He enjoyed it tremendously. I don't know if it was because the movie was slow, or my coffee had a paradoxical effect on me, but I slept through most of it. Just sitting beside him though, holding his hand, feeling his arm in my shoulder, looking at him from time to time...
Darn. Mush, mush, mush.
Sunday afternoon he came over and we were both in geek mode. He went online, I read Bates Guide to Physical Exam and Diagnosis.
Even when in-love, people should not forget their priorities.

Speaking of Edwin McCain's song, I actually thought it was "I''ll be the greatest event of your life" until I searched for the complete lyrics here in the net.
