I wonder...

Watched Lord of the Rings yesterday, supposedly with Rhome, who backed out at the last minute! Sabi niya, he was on his way, wait for him in Powerbooks, blah blah blah. Tapos hindi dumating. Wow. Anyway, it was Roy's birthday, pero late din siya. That guy always makes me wait! Anyway, since I am cheap and I still don't have a birthday gift for him, I bought him a large tub of popcorn with the commemorative LOTR tumbler. :P We actually got two sets, because we both wanted the tumbler. On our way inside, we were both wondering how we will be able to finish both. Of course, just halfway into the movie, we were both reaching for crumbs at the bottom of the tub. Carb overload! Tsk tsk...

I caught only parts of the first, I didn't watch the second, so I don't think I'm qualified to give my opininon about the movie. Pero basta, antanga tanga ni Frodo. And towards the end, Roy and I were dying of laughter because some parts were just so gay. People in the cinema were screaming at every sight of Legolas. Can't blame them. He looks dreamy.

Anyway, while inside the moviehouse, I felt it again. Last I had it was while driving (using my dad's Explorer - kung nabangga ko yun, lagot ako sa kanya) to SM Pampanga, Christmas 2002. I suddenly became aware of my breathing, and I felt like no air was entering my lungs. It lasted for about 15 seconds or so. And then I was okay again. I wonder what that was.

Roy and I had a nice, nice talk in Seattle's Best (ampangit ng presentation ng javanilla and iced white chocolate mocha kahapon ha). He told me his own version of the reunion, which, was quite different from Rhome's. Anlabo talaga nung dalawa na yun. We also talked about our friends, and how everyone seems so different now, except, well, us. Parang kami lang ang hindi nag-grow. :P

Met up with
my favorite person for late dinner. Syempre, he wrote again in those Piadina papers (ahm, paper table..cloth? hahaha, mali! Basta, yun). He's so corny, but he's also so cute. Wala lang, I love him.

Okay. Cheese. I'll shut up now.

No success in starting my diet yet. I am so undisciplined! Rice I can avoid, no sweat, but the polvoron, etc...those little things really wreck my diet.

Hay. Eto, totoo na talaga. Tomorrow, Monday, January 12, 2003, I will really snob all bad carbs. Sayang naman my book if I don't use it. I'm actually thinking whether to go Southbeach or Scarsdale. I used Scarsdale two years ago and I lost 30 pounds over six months. And it wasn't strict dieting pa. There were cheating moments din. The thing is, Scarsdale seems healthier, because it allows fruits sometimes, and vegetables every meal. Hmn.

Basta. I know I sound like a broken already, but tomorrow, Southbeach-Scarsdale fusion starts. Totoo na talaga.

On second thoughts, well, I don't really have a particular hospital I really wanted to get into for post-graduate internship anyway. I wasn't matched in my first choice, sure, but it didn't devastate me the way college did. Wala lang. Kebs. Sabagay, that was different - I passed the UPCAT, got into the course I wanted at the Diliman campus, but my parents thought I was meant to be a doctor, so they made me enroll in pre-med in the school where the cousin whose footsteps they wanted me to follow was taking up her MD.

I remember that day we submitted our application. I only had one hospital in mind, the reason pa why I liked it there was, it's just two rides away, and it's near Megamall. :P Earl asked me to apply na rin where she wanted to go, I agreed because I love Earl (she's nice, she's sweet, but she's a maldita like me), my destiny was sealed.

I also applied in The Government Hospital just for kicks. The ones who were called for interview were the top students in our class, which included my evil groupmate Boggs, who's exactly the kind of guy you want to kill: he wastes all his time playing computer games, yet gets one of the highest grades come exam time. During tutorials too, he normally just stays quiet at first (I wouldn't be surprised if boredom was the cause), but takes the floor towards the end, discussing the things that boggle the minds of the rest of us.

Oh, and I was wise enough to befriend him. Trust me, you wouldn't want to be his enemy.
And check out his
pic, pucha, pa-cute. :P

But, like always, I digress. Boggs is one of the few who was accepted legally. The rest(and madami sila) got in because they have connections. I'm sad for my groupmate Feliz, whose high grades got her an interview, but for some strange reasons, she wasn't matched. It couldn't be the interview, coz Feliz is one of the most articulate people I know.

So on May, I'm starting my year there. Which means I have to give up my hopes of losing weight - when I am with Earl, my defenses go down, I am always unable to snob a slice of warm, moist chocolate cake. Or, like The Guru suggested, influence her to go on a diet with me.

Hmn, I wonder if that'll work.

The Matching

The result is out. I am going there. A place I've never been to, and only heard of.

Trust me to choose where I am going to spend one year of my life based on, well, where my friend is going.

My immaturity surprises me.

?

So my boys went to our college get together and I didn't. I opted to go home, mostly because I was really tired from the back-breaking skeletal duties during the holidays, and well, Roy and Rhome were the only people in my barkada who wanted to go.

Rhome called me last night - perfect timing: I was bored comatose - and gave me a very detailed account. Turns out I didn't miss much. Back in college, our block was split into two groups: the rich kids, and the jologs. I'm sure it's obvious where I belonged. Of course, mas marami kami sa kanila, which was why we basically always got what we wanted. Like block parties would be scheduled after we schedule my group's party. I wonder if they hated us for that, hmn...

Anyway, they were The Others in the reunion. The only other person from my barkada who was present was Say, who, according to the resident hair critic, has a newly rebonded hair - flat yung top, medyo nakalimutan lang daw yung ilalim. :P Rhome said it wasn't too bad though. He rated it as 4/10. Not really painful, but more on uncomfortable. Parang pain score. :P Of course, they talked about the people who were not around, me included. I asked Rhome if they did some serious reminiscing, and he said no, how can you reminisce when there were no memories to begin with. My thoughts exactly. The people I "really" went through college with, they were unavailable (three reasons: abroad, busy, didn't care - take your pick). Rhome said there were separate little conversations that night. If I went, we could have just stayed for maybe two hours, went ahead, and continued the gimmick somewhere else.

Oh, and it's Roy's birthday tomorrow. Suddenly he's toxic, with lots of reports etc etc. hmn...Rhome said he's trying to escape The Triad's Tradition. I think so, too. I mean, he's an intern in Makati Med, and he's busy?

Come on. :D

Damn, I miss hanging out with my boys. These days, our schedules don't jive at all, so it's usually just me and Roy, or Rhome and Roy. It's been a while since we three went out. I miss the sleepovers, them raiding my ref the minute they arrive at my place, then using my mother's facial masks and hair treatments. Which my mom do not mind whenever she finds out. Maybe she treats them na as her daughters? I mean, she only has one (me), she has room for two more.

Buti na lang I'm sure they forgot my blog already, otherwise they'll kill me when they discover what I've been writing here. :)

?

This afternoon, my new groupmate (she started internship on October) told me she used to think I was suplada three years ago. She said she'd greet me and I'd just smile.

I guess I'm like that. I'm quiet on three occasions: when I'm shy, when I don't really know the people I'm with, or when I am overwhelmed. Other times I'm really noisy and crazy. It was also the observation of my big groupmates (rotationmates?). They said back in med school, the knew me as this girl who would always come late to class but would still enter the room with her head held up high. I was also always one of the first to bolt out after every lecture, which was why I never really had the chance to be close to them.

But even then, my groupmates knew I can be super daldal. They always say too that I have the most absurd ideas. And I can also be mean and laitera but I guess I just fit in because everyone in our group is. And during internship, I discovered almost everyone in our rotation group is, too.

Oo nga pala. Another time I'm usually quiet is, when I am with a crush. Like I mentioned sometime ago in this blog, whenever I was with my-then-crush FUL (also known as The Guru/The Boyfriend/The Guy I Used to Share a Blog With), I would lose my tongue, and my IQ would go down twenty points. Such isn't the case nowadays, though. Coz at present, he usually has to endure listening to my kilometric kwento.

I'm sleepy. I'll continue this tomorrow.
